Melanie joins NELC Mayor to celebrate Mim Horton’s 100th Birthday

Great Grimsby and Cleethorpes MP Melanie Onn and the Mayor of North East Lincolnshire, Councillor Marian Boyd, were delighted to join family, friends and members of the West End Bowling and Social Club to celebrate Mim Horton’s 100th birthday.

Mim marked the remarkable milestone surrounded by loved ones, including her son Denis and grandchildren Amy, Ben and James, who travelled from London, Bristol and Paris to be part of the special occasion. She was also joined by nieces and nephews who made the journey from Rotherham, making it a truly memorable family gathering.

Guests celebrated Mim’s century of life at the West End Bowling and Social Club, where members and friends worked hard to organise a wonderful event in her honour. Mim was especially pleased to share the congratulatory card she received from His Majesty, The King, and Her Majesty, The Queen, and was overwhelmed by the many cards, gifts and messages of goodwill she received.

In keeping with her lifelong commitment to helping others, guests generously donated to Mim’s chosen charity, The Samaritans, where she volunteered and worked for 14 years.

Mim thanked the members of the West End Bowling and Social Club for their hard work in organising the celebration and for making the occasion such a special and memorable day.

“Mim has given so much to her community throughout her life, particularly through her work with The Samaritans, and it was lovely to see so many friends and family come together to celebrate her special day.”
